A THEOLOGICAL BIBLIOGRAPHY

The following list of books recommended to ministers and theological students is only a selection from the mass of works on the various subjects of theological study. The endeavor has been to provide for the needs of the man engaged in the active work of the Church, and not to make too large a selection. Students engaged in research will consult special bibliographies. It is believed that all the books here mentioned have value. Works in other languages than English (except the original texts of the Scriptures) have been excluded.

The prices here given are taken from the American and English catalogues, but in many cases the publishers have recently revised their lists upward.

COMMENTARIES

The most thorough commentary in English is the International Critical Commentary of which sixteen volumes on the Old Testament and twelve on the New Testament have appeared. A similar series is the Westminster Commentary now in course of publication. The Cambridge Bible for Schools, and the New Century Bible are on a smaller scale but satisfactory as far as they go. This applies especially to the volumes of the Cambridge Bible (new series) which are based on the Revised Version.
