At Hatcliff, near Hefket-newmarket, of a malignant fore throat, the infant fon of Thomas Alcorn, aged four years and five months. whofe weight, at his death, could not be lefs than nine fione! He measured, in length, four feet and five inches; and, though very corpulent, he poffeffed wonderful bodily action, with uncommon ftrength, and his mental capacity furpaffed that of his years. For the laft two years, his food confifted principally of bread, milk, and water; the latter of which he drank daily at a favourite fpring, and in great quantity.

YORKSHIRE.

At York affizes, ten prifoners were capitally convicted; viz. Mary Thorpe and Michael Simpson for murder; Sarah Balley and John M'Williams for forgery; W. Dalrymple for a robbery, to the amount of two thoufand guineas; and five others.

A new bank was opened at Pontefract, on the 1ft inftant, under the firm of Leatham, jackfon, Tew, and Trueman.

Twenty-three fhips have been fitted out at Hull, for the Greenland fishery this, year, fixteen of which have proceeded on their voyage.

The Rev. At Worcester affizes, John and Richard Lane, two brothers, were convicted of the wilful murder of their uncle, Thomas Good, of Redmarley, for which they have been fince executed. Seven others received fentence of death, for various crimes, all of whom, except Sampfon Jones, were reprieved; and one who was capitally convicted, remains for fentence till next affizes.

At a late meeting of the Herefordshire Agricultural Society, it was refolved to give premiums of 1s. per bushel, for the first two hundred bufhels of new potatoes brought to Hereford market, not later than Auguft; and a fimilar premium for the first fifty bushels produced in the feveral other market towns in the county.

At Eaton, near Leominster, Margarett Mapp, aged 109; the retained her faculties to the laft; and, having a very retentive memory, could repeat, with wonderful precifion, many circumstances which happened in the reign of Queen Anne.

At Cheshunt, aged 59, the Rev. Samuel Worley, where he had been, upwards of thirty-five years, pastor of a diffenting congregation.
