4 0 my God, rescue me from the hand of the wickedFrom the grasp of the iniquitous and the violent.

5 For Thou art my hope, O Lord,

O JEHOVAH, Thou hast been my confidence from my youth; 6 By Thee have I been supported from my birth,

From the womb of my mother, Thou hast been my benefactor; Of Thee hath been my praise continually.

7 I am become as it were a portentous sign unto many, But Thou art my strong refuge.

8 My mouth is filled with Thy praise

All the day long, with Thy glory.

9 Cast me not away in the season of old age; When my strength faileth, forsake me not. 10 For mine enemies speak concerning me

Yea, those, who lie in wait for my life, consult together,

11 Saying: "God hath forsaken him!

"Pursue and seize him, for he hath no deliverer!"

12 O God, be not Thou far from me,

O my God, hasten to mine aid.

13 Let my mortal enemies

Be brought to shame and come to an end;

Let those, who seek my hurt,

Be clothed with disgrace and ignominy.

14 As for me, I will continually wait in confidence, And enlarge more and more upon all Thy praise.

15

My mouth shall recount Thy mercies

All the day long, Thy deliverances.

Truly I am not able to enumerate them!

16 The greatness of the Lord JEHOVAH shall be my theme; THY mercies, Thine only, will I commemorate.

17 O God, Thou hast taught me from my youth,
Even unto this time, do I declare Thy wondrous deeds.
18 Yea, moreover, in old age and grey hairs,

O God, forsake me not;

Until I have declared Thy might unto the next generation— THY greatness unto all who are to come.

19 THY mercy, O God, reacheth unto the height of heaven, For Thou hast done great things!

O God, who is like unto Thee?

20 Although Thou hast shown me many and grievous distresses, Yet Thou revivest me;

And again Thou bringest me up from the depths of the earth. 21 THOU increasest my greatness,

And surroundest me with consolations.

22 I, therefore, will celebrate Thee with the lute,

I will celebrate Thy faithfulness, O God;
I will hymn unto Thee with the harp,

O Holy One of Israel!

23 My lips shall sing aloud, when I hymn unto Thee, Yea, my spirit, because Thou hast redeemed me;

24 My tongue, also, all the day long,

Shall proclaim Thy mercy,

For those, who sought my hurt,

Are brought to shame to confusion of face.

PSALM LXXII.

1 O GOD, give Thy judgments unto the king, And Thy righteousness unto the king's son!

2 HE shall decide the cause of Thy people righteously, And of Thine afflicted ones with equity.

3 The mountains shall announce prosperity unto the people, And the hills, prosperity and righteousness.

4 HE shall give sentence for the afflicted of the people;

5

HE shall save the sons of the poor,

And He shall crush the oppressor.

THOU shalt be had in reverence,

So long as the sun and moon shall shine

Through successive generations.

6 HE shall come down, like rain upon the mown field— Like showers, which water the earth.

7 In His days the righteous shall flourish, And there shall be abundance of prosperity, Until the moon shall be no more.

8 Yea, He shall rule from sea to sea,

And from the river, unto the ends of the earth.

9 Before Him shall the inhabitants of the desert kneel,

And His enemies shall lick the dust.

10 The kings of Tharshish and of the islands shall bring presents, The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

11 Yea, all kings shall bow themselves down before Him,

All nations shall serve Him.

12 Truly, He will deliver the poor, who crieth aloud,

And the lowly, and him who hath no helper.

13 HE will have pity on the needy and poor,

Yea, He will preserve the lives of the poor.

14 HE will redeem them from wrong and from violence, And precious shall their blood be in His sight.

15 HE shall prosper, and unto Him shall be given gold of Sheba; And prayer shall be made for Him continually,

Daily shall He be blessed.

16 There shall be abundance of corn in the earth, Even upon the tops of the mountains;

Its fruit shall shake like Lebanon.

The inhabitants, also, of the cities shall spring up,
Like the grass of the earth.

17 HIS Name shall endure for ever!

As long as the sun shall shine,

Shall His Name be handed down!

And all nations shall be blessed through Him,

They shall pronounce Him happy!

18 Blessed be JEHOVAH-GOD, the God of Israel, Who alone doeth wonderful things!

19 Yea, blessed for ever be His glorious Name, And let all the earth be filled with His glory! AMEN and AMEN!

PSALM LXXIII.

1 DOUBTLESS, God is good unto Israel— Unto the pure in heart.

2 But as for me, my feet had well nigh swerved, My steps had all but slipped;

3 When I was envious against the arrogant, And saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 Truly, they have no pangs until their death, But their bodies are sleek.

5 They fall not into the sorrows of mortals, Nor are they afflicted as other men.

6 Therefore pride decketh them as a chain, Violence covereth them as a robe.

7 Their eyes are prominent from fatness,

The imaginations of their hearts exceed all bounds.

8 They scoff and speak wickedly,

They speak oppressively from on high.
