16 In Thy statutes do I place my delight; I do not forget Thy word.

17 Deal kindly with Thy servant;

Let me live, that I may keep Thy words!

18 Unveil mine eyes,

That I may contemplate the wonders of Thy law. 19 I am a stranger in the land;

Hide not from me Thy commandments.

20 My spirit is broken down,

With longing continually for Thy judgments.

21 THOU rebukest wilful transgressors;

Cursed are those who go astray from Thy commandments! 22 Remove from me reproach and contempt,

Because I have observed Thy revealed word.

23 Although princes consult together and speak against me, THY servant meditateth upon Thy statutes.

24 Moreover, Thy revealed precepts are my great delight, They are my counsellors!

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust;

Revive me, according to Thy promise.

26 I declare my ways before Thee, and Thou answerest me; Teach me Thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the course of Thine ordinances, That I may meditate upon Thy wonders.

28 My spirit droopeth from anxiety;

Raise Thou me up, according to Thy promise.

29 Remove from me the path of falsehood, And graciously afford me Thine instruction.

THE BOOK OF PSALMS.

2 Happy are those, who observe His revealed wordWho seek Him with their whole heart!

3 Yea, those who do not practise evil, But walk in His ways!

4 THOU hast enjoined Thine ordinances,
That they may be strictly kept.

5 O that my ways were so established,
That I might keep Thy statutes!
6 I shall not be put to shame,

While I regard all Thy commandments. 7 I praise Thee with sincerity of heart,

For having taught me Thy righteous judgments.

8 THY statutes do I keep;

Do not Thou forsake me utterly.

9 By what means may a young person keep pure his path? By setting a guard over himself, according to Thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought Thee;

Suffer me not to go astray from Thy commandments. 11 Within my heart have I treasured up Thy words, That I might not sin against Thee.

12 Blessed art Thou, O JEHOVAH!

Teach me Thy statutes.

13 With my lips, have I recounted

All the judgments of Thy mouth.

14 I delight in the way of Thy revealed word,

As in abundance of wealth.

15 Upon Thine ordinances do I meditate,

And I contemplate Thy paths,

32 I will run in the way of Thy commandments, Because Thou relievest the distresses of my heart.

33 Teach me the way of Thy statutes, O JEHOVAH, That I may keep them unto the end.

34 Give me discernment, that I may keep Thy lawThat I may observe it with my whole heart.

For ever and ever.

46 I will discourse upon Thy revealed word before kings, And I will not be ashamed.

47 I delight myself in Thy commandments,

Which I have loved.

48 I receive reverently Thy commandments, which I have loved, And I meditate upon Thy statutes.

49 Remember Thy promise unto Thy servant,

[ocr errors]

Upon which Thou hast caused me to rest my hopes.

50 This is my comfort in mine affliction;

Truly, Thy promise reviveth me.

51 Presumptuous sinners mock at me exceedingly ; I swerve not from Thy law.

52 I call to mind, O JEHOVAH, Thy judgments of old, And I comfort myself.

53 A burning heat hath seized me because of the wicked,

Who desert Thy law.

54 THY statutes have been my songs,

In the house of my sojourning.

55 By night I call to mind Thy Name, O JEHOVAH,

And I keep Thy law.

56 This hath been my comfort; Truly, I keep Thy statutes.
