I HAVE given to this little book the title which it bears, in order to make it clear that the passage of Scripture on which it rests is treated in its spiritual signification, as having reference to Christ and His people. Every one knows that this is no new interpretation. It has been generally felt that the Wisdom described in the eighth chapter is not a mere attribute of God, but a Divine Person. However, I am not aware that the Personal and Divine character of Wisdom has been ever traced as giving a unity of intention to the whole of the nine chapters. This is what I have endeavoured to do.
