a As new-born Babes, defire the fincere Milk of the Word; that By Knowledge ye may grow thereby.

b Be ye not unwife, but understanding what the Will of the Lord is; that ye may be ready always to give an Anfwer, to every Man that asketh you a Reafon of the Hope that is in you.

c Take faft hold of Inftruction; attend to the Words of Wisdom; keep them in the midst of thine Heart: Then fhalt thou understand Righteoufnefs, and Judgment, and Equity; yea every good Path.

ď Apply thine Heart to know, and to fearch, and to feek out Wisdom, and the Reafon of Things; and to know the Wickedness of Folly, even of Foolishness, and Madness: So fhalt thou behave thy felf wifely in all thy Ways.

e Enquire, I pray thee, of the former Age, and prepare thy felf to the Search of their Fathers: Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter Words out of their Heart?

f Acquaint now thy felf with the Almighty : then fhalt thou have thy Delight in him; and the Light fhall fhine upon thy Ways.

g The Works of the Lord are great, fought out of all them that have Pleafure therein.

h Be wife unto that which is good, and fimple concerning evil: Be ye wife as Serpents, and harmless as Doves.

Meditation. b Take heed unto thy felf, and unto thy Doctrine; continue in them; meditate upon these things; give thy felf wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear unto all.

c Confider thy Ways: ponder the Path of thy Feet; and let all thy Ways be established.

d We ought to give earneft heed to the things which we have heard; left at any time we fhould let them flip.

e Remember now thy Creator in the Days of , thy Youth; while the evil Day comes not, nor the Years draw nigh, when thou fhalt say, I have no pleasure in them.

Know, this Day, and confider it in thine Heart, that the Lord he is God. Stand still, and regard the wondrous Works of God, and the Operations of his Hands: and wifely confider of his doing.

Look unto the Heavens, and fee, and behold the Clouds, which are higher than thou. Lift up thine Eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things.
