He was made MAN.
Chrift Jefus, being in the Form of God, and thinking it no Robbery to be equal with God, made himself of no Reputation, and took upon him the Form of a Servant, and was made in the likeness of Men, and was found in Fashion as a Man, being made of a Woman, in the likenefs of finful Flefh.
b He came down from Heaven, from the Bofom of the Father; and, being made a little lower than the Angels, as the Children of Men are Partakers of Flefh and Blood, he also himself likewife took part of the fame.
And the Word was made Flefh, and dwelt among us: God was manifeft in the Flesh.
For verily, he took not on him the Natureof Angels; but he took on him the Seed of Abra-ham, and was made of the Seed of David, of whom, as concerning the Fleth, Chrift came.
Now the Birth of Jefus Chrift was on this wife :When as his Mother Mary was efpoufed to Jofeph,. before they came together, the Holy Ghoft came upon her, and the Power of the Highest overfiadowed her, and fo the conceived, and brought forth Son, who was called Jefus and therefore. alfo, because he was with Child of the Holy. Ghoft, that Holy Thing, which was born of her, was called the Son of God, and Emanuel, which, being interpreted, is, God with us.

And when he was brought forth, he was wrapp'd in Swadling-clothes, and laid in a Manger.

He gave us a NEW COVENANT.
a The Law, and the Prophets were until John Since that time the Kingdom of God is preached by Jefus Chrift; who came to call Sinners to Repentance; to preach the Gofpel of Peace; and to bring glad tidings of good things.
b The Law was given by Mofes, but Grace · and Truth came by Jefus Chrift; which was a Prophet, mighty in Deed and Word, beforeGod, and all the People: concerning whom Mofes truly faid unto the Fathers; a Prophet fhall the Lord your God raife up unto you, of your Brethren, like unto me, him fhall ye hear, in all things whatfoever he fhall fay unto you and it fhall come to pass, that every Soul, which will not hear that Prophet, fhall be destroyed from. among the People.

a The Priests that offered Gifts according to the Law, ferved unto the Example, and Shadow of heavenly things: But now hath Chrift obtained a more excellent Miniftry; by how much alfo he is the Mediator of a better Covenant, which was established upon better Promises. For if that first Covenant had been faultless, then fhould no place have been fought for the fecond; and, by giving us a New Covenant, the Lord hath made the first Old.
b The firft Covenant had alfo Ordinances of Divine Service, and a Worldly Sanctuary; in which were offered both Gifts, and Sacrifices, that could not make him that did the Service perfect, as pertaining to the Confcience; which flood only in Meats and Drinks, and divers Wafhings, and carnal Ordinances, impofed on them, until the time of Reformation: But Chrift, being come, an High-Priest of good things to come, is the Mediator of the New Teftament; that, by the Redemption of the Tranfgreffions that were under the first Teftament, they which are called might receive the Promife of Eternal Inheritance.
c Chrift hath blotted out the Hand-writing of Ordinances, that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way; so that we are no longer fubject to Ordinances, which all are to perith with the ufing; nor are we tied up, as the Jews were, in Meat, or in Drink, or in refpect of a Holy-Day, or of the New-Moon, or of the Sabbath- Days; which were a Shadow of things to come; but the Body is of Chrift.

a There is, verily, a difannulling of the Commandment, going before, for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For, the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better Hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God: For we are faved by Hope.
b In Chrift Jefus, we who fometimes were far off, being Aliens from the Common-wealth of Ifrael, and Strangers from the Covenants of Promife, are made nigh. For he is our Peace, who hath made both Jews and Gentiles one, and hath broken down the middle Wall of Partition between us; having abolished in his Flefh, the Enmity, even the Law of Commandments, contained in Ordinances. So that now there is nei-ther Greek, nor Jew, Circumcifion, nor Uncircumcifion, Barbarian, Scythian, Bond, nor Free: for we are all one in Chrift Jefus.
This is the Meffias, who, when he came, was to tell us all things. And accordingly, he to whom were known the ways of Life, hath taught. us what we shall do that we may work the Works, of God.
