The Number of Children of King Charles IId's New Royal Foundation in Chrifts- Hofpital, London, that have been Educated in the Art of Navigation, and after fome Years Continuance there, have been put forth Apprentices to the Practice of it; according to that King's Defign in his Gracious Inftitution, as it was prefented to his Majefty King George, by the Lord-Mayor of London, and the President and Governors of the faid Holpital, Jan. 1. 1715. Put forth Apprentices to Commanders of his Majefty's Ships of War, and to Mafters of Merchant-Ships, from October 1675, to December 1715, 412 Children. In the beginning of the Seventh Year of their Service, they are to be at his Majefty's Difpofal. There are at this Day 40 Children in the faid Hofpital, who enjoy the Bounty of King Charles II, NUMBER LXIV. The Officers of St. Bartholomew's-Hofpital. THE ancient Hofpital of St. Bartholomew, fituate nigh W:ft Smithfield, London, was first founded by Rayhere, in the Reign of King Henry I. Ann. Dom. 1102. After the Diffolution of Abbies and Monafteries, refounded by King Henry VIII. A. D. 1546. In which Hofpital, with two others, one at Kingsland, and the other called the Lock in Southwark, being both under the Charge of St. Bartholomew's Hofpital, there are about 400 Patients, Men and Women, daily reliey'd with Lodging, Diet, Phyfick, Chirurgery, and all other Miniftrations useful and neceffary for reftoring Sick and Wounded Seamen, and others, to their Healths and Limbs. The faid Hofpital is governed by a Prefident, Treasurer, and feveral Governors, out of which annually annually Committees are elected for the good Ordering of the Affairs of that House, viz. Auditors of the General Accompt. Viewers of the Revenues belonging to the faid Hospital. Overfeers of the Goods and Utenfils of the faid Hospital. Almoners to buy Provifions and Neceffaries for the Patients. The Treasurer, Almoners, and divers Governors, meet twice a Week within the faid Hofpital, to fee that good Rule and Government be kept in that Houfe, and to difcharge fuch poor diseased Perfons as are cur'd, and admit others in their Room.
