SCRIPTURE.

HEN Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily,
I say unto you, Moses gave you not that
Bread from heaven; but My Father giveth
you the true Bread from heaven.

For the Bread of God is He which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto Him, Lord, evermore give us this Bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the Bread of life he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst.St. John vi. 32-35.

O

PSALM LXIII. Deus, Deus meus.

GOD, Thou art my God: early will I seek
Thee.

2. My soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh also longeth after Thee in a barren and dry land where no water is.

3. Thus have I looked for Thee in holiness: that I might behold Thy power and glory.

4. For Thy loving kindness is better than the life itself: my lips shall praise Thee.

5. As long as I live will I magnify Thee on this manner and lift up my hands in Thy Name.

6. My soul shall be satisfied, even as it were with marrow and fatness: when my mouth praiseth Thee with joyful lips.

7. Have I not remembered Thee in my bed: and thought upon Thee when I was waking?

8. Because Thou hast been my helper: therefore under the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.

9. My soul hangeth upon Thee: Thy right hand hath upholden me.

10. These also that seek the hurt of my soul : they shall go under the earth.

II. Let them fall upon the edge of the sword: that they may be a portion for foxes.

12. But the King shall rejoice in God; all they also that swear by Him shall be commended: for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. Glory be, &c.

PRAYER.

MOST merciful GOD, incline Thine ear to our prayers, and enlighten our hearts with the Grace of Thy HOLY SPIRIT, that we may worthily approach Thy Holy Mysteries. Grant that whatever we have done amiss in time past at Thy Holy Altar, in sinful thoughts; in want of due reverence; in unworthy act, or neglect; in vain repetition of words, or distraction of thought; or in any other manner whatever; may be mercifully pardoned by Thee. Let the Comforter, Who proceedeth from Thee, enlighten our minds, and lead us, according to the promise of Thy Son JESUS CHRIST, into all truth. Visit, and cleanse our consciences, that Thy SON our LORD JESUS CHRIST may find in us a dwelling-place prepared for Him. Grant us, Blessed LORD, to receive Thy Holy Sacrament not for our judgment to condemnation, but to the remission of all our sins, and for the preservation of our bodies and souls unto everlasting life. And grant that, having received the Body and Blood of Thy Dear SON, we may never be separated from Thee by sin, but may continue Thine for ever, and at last behold Thee face to face in Thy Kingdom of Glory, through JESUS CHRIST Thy SON our LORD. Amen.

Our Father, &c.

SCRIPTURE.

ND as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My Body. And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it: For this is My Blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. -St. Matthew xxvi. 26-28.

HYMN.

1. JESU, dear Redeeming Lord,

Magnify Thy dying Word;

In Thine Ordinance appear,
Come and meet Thy people here.

2. In the Rite Thou hast enjoin'd,
Let us all our Saviour find:

Drink Thy Blood for sinners shed,
Taste Thee in the broken Bread.

3. Thou our faithful hearts prepare,
Thou Thy pardoning Grace declare,
Thou Who hast for sinners died,
Show Thyself the Crucified.

4. All the power of sin remove,
Fill us with Thy perfect love :
Stamp us with the Stamp Divine,
Seal our souls for ever Thine.

PRAYER.

LORD JESU CHRIST, we believe that Thou Thyself, equal in all things to the FATHER, when Thou tookest upon Thee to deliver man, didst not abhor the Virgin's womb, but for us men wast made Man. We believe that out of love for us Thou didst, at the Last Supper, institute this Sacrament, and didst give to us Thine own Body and Blood for our meat and drink. And lastly, being obedient to Thy FATHER even unto death, Thou didst offer up Thyself as a Sacrifice for us upon the Altar of the Cross. Therefore do we

hope in Thee, and with great confidence do we come to Thee, O LORD! For what wilt Thou refuse, Who so lovedst us as to give Thyself for us? We desire to love Thee also, good LORD, with all the strength of our hearts. Wherefore we humbly beseech Thee, that by the virtue of Thy Body and Blood, Thou wouldst effectually wean our hearts from all hurtful affections which hinder the profit of this Sacrament; and unite us most closely with Thyself, that we may taste the sweetness of Thy love, and be made one spirit with Thee; that Thou mayest abide in us, and we in Thee; that so nothing may ever be able to separate us from Thee. Grant this for Thy Name's sake. Amen. Our Father, &c.

SCRIPTURE.

ERILY, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life. I am that Bread of life. Your fathers did

eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the Bread Which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living Bread which came down from heaven : if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and the Bread that I will give is My Flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.—St. John vi, 47-51.

PSALM XXXII. Beati, quorum.

LESSED is he whose unrighteousness is for

BLESSED is

2. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth no sin and in whose spirit there is no guile. 3. For while I held my tongue: my bones consumed away through my daily complaining.

4. For Thy Hand is heavy upon me day and night: and my moisture is like the drought in summer. 5. I will acknowledge my sin unto Thee and mine unrighteousness have I not hid.

6. I said, I will confess my sins unto the Lord and so Thou forgavest the wickedness of my sin.

7. For this shall every one that is godly make his prayer unto Thee, in a time when Thou mayest be found but in the great water-floods they shall not come nigh him.

8. Thou art a place to hide me in, Thou shalt preserve me from trouble: Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.

9. I will inform thee, and teach thee in the way wherein thou shalt go: and I will guide thee with Mine Eye.
