HERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

ரு இயூதேயாதேசத்தின் இரா சாவாகிய எரோதேயின் நாள்களி லே அபீயா என்னும் ஆசாரியவகு பபிற்சகரியாவெனனப்பட்ட ஆசா ரியன இருந்தான். ஆரோனின் கு ம்பத்திற் பிறந்த எலிசபேத்தென னப்பட்டவள், அவனுக்கு மனைவி யாயிருந்தாள்.

7 And they had no child, because that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. 8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

9 According to the cus-
tom of the priest's office,

his lot was to burn incense
when he went into the tem-
ple of the Lord.

ய தூபங்கொடுக்கிற வேளையிலே சனங்களெல்லாரும் புறம்பே செபம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டி குந்தார்கள்.

யக அப்பொழுது பராபரனு டைய தூதனொருவன் தூபபீடத்தி துபக்கத்திலே நின்று, அவனு க்குக்காணப்பட்டான்.

யஉ சகரியா அவனைக்கண்டு கல ங்கிப்பயம் அடைந்தான்.

யங தூதன் அவனை நோக்கி, சக ரியாவே, நீ பயப்பட வேண்டாம். உன் விணணபபங் கேட்கப்பட்ட து. உன்மனைவியாகிய எலிசபேத துஒருகுமாரனைப்பெறுவாள். அவ னுக்கு இயோவானென்று பேரிடுவா

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

யரு என்னத்தினாலெனில், அவன பராபரனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பெரியவ னாய்த்திராட்ச இரசத்தையும்,மது பானத்தையுங் குடியாமல் தன்தா பின்வயிற்றிலே பரிசுத்த ஆவியி லே நிரப்பப்பட்டிருப்பான்.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias : for thy prayer is heard ; and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name

John.

யச அவனாலுனககுச் சந்தோஷ 14 And thou shalt have முங் களிப்புமுண்டாகும். அவனு joy and gladness ; and maடைய பிறப்பைக்குறித்து அநேகர் ny shall rejoice at his birth. ந்தோஷப்படுவார்கள்.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

யா அல்லாமலும் அவன் இஸ்ர வேல் சந்ததியாரில் அநேகரைய வர்களுடைய வனாகிய பராபர

னிடத்திற்குத்திருப்புவான்.

17 And he shall go be- யஎ பிதாக்களுடைய இருதயங் fore him in the spirit and களைப்பிள்ளைகளிடததிற்கும், கீழ்ப்

power of Elias, to turn the

hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just ; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

18 And Zacharias said

unto the angel, whereby

shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God ; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able

to speak, until the day that

படியாதவர்களை நீதிமான்களுடை ய புத்திக்குந் திருப்பி, செமமை யானசனங்களைப் பராபரனுக்காக

எத்தனம்பண்ணும்படிக்கு, அவன் எலியாவின் ஆவி யையும் பலத்தையு முடையவனாய், அவருக்கு முன்னே நடப்பானென்றான்.

உய என்வார்த்தைகளதகுதியா ன்காலத்திலே நிறைவே று ம். அவை களை நீ விசுவாசியாதபடியினாலே, these things shall be per-இந்தக்காரியங்கள சமபவிக்கும் நா formed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and mar

velled that he tarried so long in the temple.

22 And when he came out, he could not speak un

ed that he had seen a vision in the temple : for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

23 And it came to pass,
