6 But now hath he obtained a h more excellent ministry, 4 by how much also he is the i mediator of a better covenant, which was established
upon better promises.
7 k For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, 'Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

as it was showed thee in the mount, so shall they make it. NUMB. viii. 4: And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work : according unto the pattern, which the LORD had showed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

h 2 Cor. iii. 6, 8, 9: Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. "JER. xxxi. 31-34: Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD : but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 7 But into the second went the High Priest alone 9 once every year, not without blood, which fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt. 2 Chr. v. 10 : There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
• Exod. xxv. 18, 22: Thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, Lev. xvi. 2: And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother. 1 Kings, viii. 6, 7: And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
P NUMB. xxviii. 3: This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first
year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. Dan. viii. Il : Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
