XI. To the Childless.

Ps. lxviii. 6. God setteth the solitary in families.

Ps. cxiii. 9. He maketh the barren women to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.

Is. lvi. 4. Thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant. Ver. 5. Even unto them will I give in mine house, and within my walls, a place and a name, better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

XIII. Of Deliverance from Death.

Job, xxxiii. 28. He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

Ps. lxvii. 20. He that is our God, is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death.

Ps. lxvi. 8. O bless our God, ye people; and make the voice of his praise to be heard. Ver. 9. Who holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

Ps. cii. 19. From heaven did the Lord behold the earth. Ver. 20. To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loose those who are appointed to death.

Ps. cvii. 18. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat, and they draw near unto the

gates of death. Ver. 19. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble; he saveth them out of their distresses.

Ps. cxvi. 15. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Ps. xci. 7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Ps. ix. 13. Thou that liftest me up from the gates of death.

1 Sam. ii. 6. The Lord killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

Deut. xxxii. 39. See now, that I, even I am He, and there is no God with me; I kill, and I make alive: I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

CHAPTER III.

PROMISES OF SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN THIS

LIFE.

I. In General.

PSALM, XXV. 10. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Ver. 14. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he will show them his covenant.

2 Pet. i. 3. According to his divine power hath he given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us unto glory and virtue. Ver. 4. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises.

II. Of Justification, Pardon and Reconcili ation.

Justification.-Is. xlv. 25. In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

Is. liv. 11. By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Ezek. xxxvi. 25. I will sprinkle clean wa

ter upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will Í cleanse you.

Rom. iii. 24. Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ.

Rom. v. 1. Being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Ver. 9. Being justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Ver. 18. By the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. Ver. 19. For by the obedience of one, shall many be made righteous.

Rom. viii. 1. There is, therefore, now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Je sus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.

2 Chron. v. 21. He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Acts, xiii. 39. By him, all that believe, are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Tit. iii. 7. That being justified by his grace we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Pardon of sin.-Ex. xxxiv. 7. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, and transgression and sin.

Ps. lxv. 3. As for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
