16 And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wildernefs of Faran.

CHAP. XIII.

The names of the men who were fent to fearch the land: 17 their inftructions: 23 their ads; 29 and their relation.

And the Lend pake unto Mofes, faying,

2 Send thou men that they may fearch the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Ifrael: of every tribe of their fathers fhall ye fend a man, every one a ruler among them.

3 And Mofes, by the commandment of the LORD, fent them from the wilderness of Paran: all thofe men were heads of the children of Ifrael.

4 And these were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben; Shammua, the fon of Zaccur. 5 Of the tribe of Simeon; Shaphat, the fon of Hari.

6 Of the tribe of Judah; Caleb, the fon of Jephunneb.

7 Of the tribe of Iffachar; Igal, the fon of Jofeph.

8 Of the tribe of Ephraim; Oshea, the fon

of Nun.

9 Of the tribe of Benjamin; Palti, the fon of Rapliu.

10 of the tribe of Zebulun; Gaddiel, the Son of Sodi.

11 Of the tribe of Jofeph, namely, of the tribe of Manafleh; Gaddi, the fort of Sufi. 12 Of the tribe of Dan; Ammiel, the fon of Gemalli.

3 Of the tribe of Asher; Sethur, the fon of Michael.

14 Of the tribe of Naphtali; Nahbi, the fon of Vopfi.

15 Of the tribe of Gad; Geuel, the fon of Machi.

16 Thefe are the names of the men which Mofes fent to fpy out the land. called Othea the fon of Nun, Jehoshua. And Moles

17 And Mofes fent them to fpy out the land of Canaan, and faid unto them, Get you up this way fouthward, and go up into the mountain;

18 And fee the land what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be ttrong or weak, few or many;

19 And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein or not: and be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. (Now the time was the time of the firft-ripe grapes.)

21 So they went up, and fearched the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22 And they afcended by the fouth, and came unto Hebron, where Ahiman, Shefhai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built feven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23 And they came unto the brook of Efhcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one clutter of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

28 Nevertheless, the people be ftrong that and very great: and, moreover, we faw the dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, children of Anak there.

32 But as for you, your carcafes, they shall fall in this wilderness.

33 And your children fhall wander in the wildernefs forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcafes be waited in the wildernefs.

34 After the number of the days in which ye fearched the land, even forty days, (each day for a year,), thall ye hear your iniquitics, even forty years; and ye thall know my.. breach of promife.

35 I the LORD have faid, I will furely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together againit me: in this wildernefa they thall be confumed, and there they shall

die.

36 And the men which Mofes fent to fearch the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a flander upon the land;

37 Even thofe men, that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye fhall fall by the fword: becaufe ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

44 But they prefumed to go up unto the hill-top: nevertheless, the ark of the cove nant of the LORD, and Mofes, departed not out of the camp.

45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hiH, and fmote them, and difcomfited them, even unto Hormah. CHAP. XV.

3 And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt-offering, or a facrifice in performing a vow, or in a free-will offering, or in your folemn featts, to make a fweet favour unto the LORD, of the herd or of the flock;

4 Then thall he that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat-offering, of a tenth-deal of flour, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.

5 And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink-offering thalt thou prepare, with the burnt-offering or facrifice, for one lamb.

6 Or for a ram, thou thalt prepare for a meat-offering two tenth-deals of flour, mingled with the third part of an hin of oil.

7 And for a drink-offering thou fhalt offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a fweet favour unto the LORD.

8 And when thou preparett a bullock for a burnt-offering, or for a facrifice in performing a vow, or peace-offerings unto the LORD:

9 Then fhall he bring with a bullock a meat-offering of three fenth-deals of flour, mingled with half an hin of oil.

10 And thou halt bring for a drink-offering half an hin of wine, for an offering made by

fire of a sweet favour unto the LORD.

11 Thus thali it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid.

12 According to the number that ye fhall prepare, fo fhall ye do to every onc, according to their number.

13 All that are born of the country fhall do thefe things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire of a sweet favour unto the LORD.

14 And if a stranger fojourn with you, or whofoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire of a fweet favour unto the LORD; as ye do, fo he thall do.

15 One ordinance fhall be both for you,of the congregation, and alfo for the ftranger that fojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, fo fhall the tranger be before the LORD.

16 One law, and one manner, fhall be for you, and for the stranger that fojourneth with

you.

17 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, faying,

18 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, and fay unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you;

19 Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye fhall offer up an heave-offering unto the LORD.

20 Ye thall offer up a cake of the firft of your dough for an heave-offering, as ye do the heave-offering of the threshing-floor, fo than ye heave it.

21 Of the first of your dough ye shall give unto the LORD an heave-offering in your ge

nerations.

22 And if ye have erred, and not obferved all thefe commandments which theLORD hath fpoken unto Mofes,

23 Even all that the LORD hath commanded you by the hand of Mofes, from the day that the LORD commanded Mofes, and hence forward among your generations;

24 Then it thall be, if ought be committed" by ignorance, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering. for a fweet favour unto the LORD, with bi meat-offering, and his drink-offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a fin-offering.

25 And the pricft thall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Ifrael, and it thall be forgiven them; for it a ignorance: and they thall bring their offering, a facrifice made by hire unto the Loan, and their fin-offering before the LORD, for their ignorance.

26 And it fhall be forgiven all the congrega tion of the children of Ifrael, and theftranger that fojourneth among them; feeing all the people were in ignorance.

27 And if any foul tin through ignorance, then he fhall bring a the-goat of the first year for a fin-offering,

28 And the priett fhall make an atonement for the foul that finneth ignorantly, whet he finneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atoneinent for him; and it thall be forgiven him.

30 But the foul that doeth ought prefumptuously, (whether he be born in the land, or a stranger,) the fame reproacheth the LORD: and that foul fhall be cut off from a mong his people.

31 Because he hath defpifed the word of the LORD, and hath broken his command ment, that foul thall utterly be cut off: his iniquity shall be upon him.

32 And while the children of Ifrael were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered fticks upon the fabbath-day.

33 And they that found him gathering sticks, brought him unto Mofes and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

34 And they put him in ward, becaufe a was not declared wltat fhould be done to him.

35 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, The man fhall be furely put to death: all the congregation thall tone him with tones without the camp.

36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and toned him with one, and he died; as the LORD commanded Mofts. 37 And the LORD ipake unto Mofes, fap

ing,

38 Speak unto the children of Ifrael, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments, throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue.

39 And it thall be unto you for a fringe. that ye may look upon it, and remember al the comina dments of the LORD, and da them; and that ye feek not after your own heart, and your own eyes, after which ye uf to go a whoring;

40 That ye may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

41 I am the LORD your God, which brangle you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God i am the LORD your God.

CHAP. XVI. The rebellion of Karah,

18 And they took every man his cenfer, and put fire in them, and laid incenfe thereon, and itood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Mofes and Aaron.

19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.

20 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, and unto Aaron, faying,

21 Separate yourfelves from among this congregation, that I may confume them in a moment.

22 And they fell upon their faces, and faid, O God, the God of the fpirits of all fileth, thal one man fin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

23 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, fay

ing,

24 Speak unto the congregation, faying, Get ye up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.

25 And Mofes rofe up, and went unto Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Ifrael followed him.

26 And he spake unto the congregation, faying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of thefe wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, left ye be consumed in all their fins.

27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every fide; and Dathan and Abiram came out, and tood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their fons, and their little children.

28 And Mofes faid, Hereby ye fhall know that the LORD hath fent me to do all thefe works; (for Ihave not done them of minc own mind.)

29 If thefe men die the common death of all men, or if they be vifited after the vifita tion of all men, then the LORD hath not fent me;

30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and fwallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit, then ye thall understand that thefe men have provoked the LORD.

31 And it came to pafs, as he had made an end of speaking all thefe words, that the ground clave afunder that was under them:

32 And the earth opened her mouth, and fwallowed them up, and their houfes, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.

33 They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth clofed upon them: and they perifhed from among the congregation.

34 And all Ifrael that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they faid, Left the earth fwallow us up alfo.

35 And there came out a fire from the LORD, and confumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incenfe.

36 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, fay

ing,

37 Speak unto Elcazar, the fon of Aaron the priest, that he take up the cenfers out of the burning, and fcatter thou the fire yonder, for they are hallowed.

38 The cenfers of thefe finners againft their own fouls, let thein make them broad

out the camp in a clean place; and it thall be kept for the congregation of the children of Ifrael, for a water of feparation: it is apurification for fin.

10 And he that gathereth the aftes of the heifer fhall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Ifrael, and unto the ftranger that fojourneth among them, for a statute for ever. 11 He that toucheth the dead body of any man thall be unclean feven days.

12 He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the feventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himfelf the third day, then the feventh day he shall not be clean.

13 Whofoever toucheth the dead body of

any man that is dead, and purifieth not him

felf, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that foul thall be cut off from Ifrael: becaufe the water of feparation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleannefs is yet upon him.

14 This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent; All that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, fhall be unclean feven days. 15And every open veffel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 And whosoever toucheth one that is flain with a fword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, fhall be unclean feven days.

17 And for an unclean perfon they hall take of the athes of the burntheifer of purification for fin, and running water thall be put thereto in a veffel;

18 And a clean perfon fhall take hyffop, and dip it in the water, and fprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vefels, and upon the perfons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one flain, or one dead, or a grave:

19 And the clean Berfon thall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the feventh day; and on the feventh day he thall purify himself, and wath his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and thall be clean at

5 And wherefore have ye made us to co up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this c place? it is no place of feed, or of hig vines, or of pomegranates; neither is th any water to drink.

And Mofes and Aaron went from prefence of the affembly unto the door of tabernacle of the congregation, and they. upon their faces; and the glory of the L appeared unto them.

And the LORD fpake unto Mofes, f

ing Take the rod, and gather thou the

fembly together, thouand Aaron thy broth and fpeak ye unto the rock before their ey and it thall give forth his water, and ta thalt bring forth to them water out of rock: fo thou shalt give the congregation a their beafts drink.

9 And Moses took the rod from before t LORD, as he commanded him.

10 And Mofes and Aaron gathered the e gregation together before the rock, and faid unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; u we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Mufes lifted up his hand, and wh his rod he fmote the rock twice; and the w ter came out abundantly and the congreg tion drank, and their beats alfo.

12 And the LORD (pake unto Mofes a Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to fin tify me in the eyes of the children of rac therefore ye thall not bring this congregatio into the land which I have given them.

13 This is the water of Meribal ; becau the children of Ifrael ftrove with the Lu and he was fanctified in them.

16 And when we cried unto the Loan, b heard our voice, and fent an angel, and hat brought us forth out of Egypt; and, bebok we are in Kadeth, a city in the uttermons thy border.

17 Let us pafs, I pray thee, through zb country: we will not pass through the fla or through the vineyards, neither wi drink of the water of the wells, we will by the kings high-way, we will not turn ↑ the right hand nor to the left, until we has palled thy borders.
