19 And the evening and the morning were

20 And God faid, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

CHAP. I. 1 The creation of heaven and earth, 3 of the the fourth day. light, 6 of the firmament, 9 of the earth separated from the waters, 11 and made fruitful, 14 of thejun, moon, and Alars, 20 of fifa and fowl, 24 of beafts and cattle, 26 of man in the image of God; 29 alfo the appoint1ment of food.

Nthe beginning God created the heaven

and the earth.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darknefs was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moval upon the face of the waters.

3 And God faid, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God faw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And God faid, Let there be a firmament in the midit of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firtament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the iccond day.

9 And God faid, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it

was fo.

10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering togethe of the waters called he Seas: and God faw that it nat good.

11 And God faid, Let the earth bring forth grafe, the herb vielding feed, and the fruittree yickling fruit after his kind, whofe feed irin itfeif, upon the earth: and it was fo.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

22 And God bleffed them, faying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the feas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God faid, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, tle, and creeping thing, and beat of the earth after his kind: and it was fo.

25 And God made the beaft of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth af ter his kind: and God faw that it was good.

26 And God faid, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fith of the fea, at over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his orun image: in the image of God created he him: mis and female created be them..

28 And God bleffed them; and God faid unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenith the earth, and fundue it: and have dominion over the hih of the iea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God faid. Behold, I have given you every herb bearing feed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding feed; to you it ball be for meat.

30 And to every beaft of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for mcat and it was fo.

31 And God law every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the fixth day.

2 And on the feventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the feventh day from all his work which he ! had made.

3 And God bleffed the feventh day, and sanctified it, because that in it he had reited from all his work which, God created and made.

4 Thefe are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created; in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

6 But there went up a mitt from the

11 The name of the firft is Pifon: that is it which compafleth the whole land of HaviJah, where there is gold.

12 And the gold of that land is good; there is bdellium and the onyx-ftone.

13 And the name of the fecond river is Gihon the fame is it that compaffeth the whole land of Ethiopia.

14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Affyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to drefs it, and to keep it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, faying, of every tree of the garden thou mayeft freely eat;

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eateft thereof thou shalt surely die.

18 And the LORD God faid, It is not good that the man fhould be alone: I will make him an help meet for him.

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beat of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam, to fee what he would call them and whatfoever Adam called every living creature,

that quas the name thereof.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every bealt of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21 And the LORD God caufed a deep fleep to fall upon Adam, and he flept: and he took one of his ribs, and clofed up the fieth instead thereof.

22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

2 And the woman faid unto the ferpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath faid, Ye fhall not eat of it, neither thall ye touch it, left ye die.

4 And the ferpent faid unto the woman, Ye thall not furely die:

5 For God doth know that, in the day ye ear thereof, then your eyes fhall be opened ye thall be as gods, knowing good and

evil.

6 And when the woman faw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleafant to the eyes, and a tree to be defired to make one wife, the took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and gave alfo unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they fewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Am and his wife hid themselves from the prefence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he faid, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myfelf.

11 And he faid, Who told thee that thou waft naked? Haft thou caten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou thould

elt not eat?

12 And the man faid, The woman, whom thou gavest to be with me, the gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the LORD God faid unto the wo man, What is this that thou halt done? And the woman faid, The ferpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14 And the LORD God faid unto the ferpent, Because thou hast done this thou art curfed above all cattle, and above every beatt of the field; upon thy belly fhalt thou go. and duft fhalt thou eat all the days of thy life.

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy feed and her feed: it thall bruife way head, and thou fhalt bruise his heel.
