Il reste à résoudre un autre problème, plus difficile peut-être. Etant donnée une armoirie, trouver la famille à laquelle elle appartient.

Nous offrons au public un catalogue raisonné de toutes les figures contenues dans les cent et cinq mille descriptions d'armoiries de l'Armorial Général de Rietstap. Dressé dans un ordre spécial, figure par figure, ce nouveau dictionnaire permettra dorénavant à tous ceux que la chose intéresse comme heraldistes, généalogistes, collectionneurs, amateurs de tous genres, marchands d'objets anciens, etc., de donner un nom, sinon à toutes les armoiries, ce qui est impossible à réaliser jusqu'à ce jour, au moins à toutes celles que Rietstap a décrites.-Preface.
