THE Author of the following valuable Work was born on the 30th August, 1742, and entered into the joy of his Lord, at Worthing, in Sussex; whither he had gone on a visit, on the 1st August, 1812, in the 70th year of his age. As he loved, and generally lived in retirement, little can be collected respecting his life. His works, however, sufficiently evince the depth of his understanding in the knowledge of the truth, and how much he lived under its influence. The following, we believe, is an accurate list of his publications: 1. Hora Solitaria, consisting of two volumes: one on the Divinity of Jesus Christ; the other, on the Divinity of the Holy Spirit.-A third volume, which may be considered an appendix to this work, has been added, entitled, the Church of God, being essays on various names and titles given to the Church in the Holy Scriptures. 2. The Christian Parent; which consists of short and plain discourses concerning God, and the works and word of God, in creation, redemption, and sanctification: intended originally for some young persons in a family. |
