*** "Mr. Bindley paid £1. 12s. at G. Steevens's Sale for a copy of this tract. In Longman's B. A. Poetica, 1815, a copy is inarked £10. 10. See Ritson's B. P. 279." 1563 MILLER OF ABINGTON. HERE IS A MERY IEST OF THE

MYLNER OF ABYNGTON WITH HIS WYFE AND HIS DOUGHTER, AND THE two poore sCHOLERS OF CAMBRIDGE (imperfect). THE LIFE OF IPOMYDON. Enprynted at London in the Fletestrete at the sygne of the Sonne by Wynkyn de Worde (wanting sheet A. and part of I. 11.)

*** Neither of these productions is mentioned by Ames, Herbert or Dr. Dibdin, but from the type it is clear that they both came from the same press. The first is a highly humorous and well told story of the mode in which two

Cambridge students revenged themselves on a cheating
miller. It is similar to Chaucer's Reve's Tale, and both
are derived from the same original, Boccaccio. The second
is a Romance, the existence of which in print, has been
noticed by Bishop Percy (Reliques III. 35), and by Mr.
Ellis (Romances III. 215). The conclusion shews that it
was the work of Robert Copland.

"Lenuoye of Robert C. the prynter
Go lytell Jest vndepured of speche
Vnto thy reders and alway me excuse
To take thy mater I hertly them beseche
Though thou rudely no other termes vse.
This is thy copy, thou can it not refuse,
Syth that no wryter wolde take the to amende,
In this my labour I myght it not entende."

It appears to agree pretty exactly with the MS. copy of the same Romance in the British Museum. (Harl. MS. 2252) and it is perfect with the exception of four leaves at the commencement.

The Miller of Abington wants the conclusion, and one leaf in the middle B. I. In 1 vol. in morocco, by C. Lewis. 1564 Milton's (John) Paradise Lost, a Poem, in Ten Books, first edition. Printed by S. * An extremely rare tract, and very remarkable on account of the information it conveys. As the name of the author was also that of one of our greatest poets, it may be worth while to note that he was a Gloucestershire man and a native of Cheltenham.
