(1) This receiver's eftates were extended; he died in prifon, and his fureties compounded by act of Parliament.

(2) This receiver's eftates were extended; he died in prison, and his fureties compounded by act of Parliament.

(3) This receiver died infolvent, and his fureties compounded by act of Parliament.

(4) The appeal which was many years ago depending before the House of Lords, touching the debt due from Mr. Charles Mason to Sir Biby Lake and Mr. Newell, who was fecurity for this receiver, was determined in favour of the crown; but the mortgage to the late Sir Biby Lake being prior to the crown's debt, the mortgage money was to be firft paid; the eftate has been fince fold, and has not been fufficient to fatisfy the mortgage, and therefore we apprehend there is nothing left for the payment of the crown debt.

(5) This receiver died infolvent; his fureties were profecuted, but nothing recovered.

(7) Mr. Smart the receiver being long fince dead, the fuit which was then depending, touching his eftate and effects, abated thereby, and letters of adminiftration were granted for the ufe of the crown; and his only fon and heir, which was then in India, dying soon after, a bill of revivor was filed, for reviving that fuit; there was a receiver appointed by the court of Exchequer upon the eftate, which was very finall, ill-tenanted, and part of it had been often in hand, so that little was produced from it; and his fecurities have been many years dead infolvent.

(8) The eftates and effects of this receiver were vested in trustees for the ufe of the crown, and great fums have been paid into the Exchequer; and there is a fall eftate remaining, upon which there is a receiver appointed, who pays the profits annually in fatisfaction of the crown debt.

(9) The receiver left an eftate in Ireland, for the fale of which it was thought neceffary to obtain a decree in the court of Exchequer there, and a fuit was commenced for that purpofe; but by reafon of the many prior incumbrances, it was found impracticable to recover any part of the debt.

(10) Extents have been iffued, and several sums raised; but nothing more is expected.

(11) Greatest part of the eftates of these receivers have been fold, and the purchase money paid into the Exchequer, and nothing farther expected to be received.

Proceedings and Obfervations.

(12) There was a prior extent fued out by the commiffioners of customs, who took poffeffion of the receiver's eftates, which were infufficient to satisfy the debt due to the customs.

(13) The eftates and effects of this receiver were affigned to a tru ftee, and fold, for raising money for fatisfaction of the crown debt; feveral fums of money have been paid into the Exchequer in confequence of fuch fale, but nothing more can be received.

(14) Upon this receiver's failing, extents were iffued against him, upon which his perfon was fecured, and all his eftate and effects, which could be discoverd, feized, feveral fums have been raised thereout, and paid into the Exchequer, and his fureties have fince compounded by act of Parliament.

(15) Procefs went against this receiver into Wales, which never could be got executed.

(16) Upon this receiver's failing, a writ of Diem claufit extremum iffued againft Edward Hooker, one of his fureties, and afterwards extents against himself; wereupon he and his other fecurity, Francis Sheppard, conveyed their eftates to William Yeldham, Efq. a truftee for the crown; and all the receiver's eftates have been fold, from whence, and alfo from the effects of the faid Hooker, many thousand pounds have been paid into the Exchequer; but nothing more can be received.

(17) This receiver has been dead many years, and his fecurities have obtained an act of Parliament for compounding the debt due to the crown; and a cafe is now before his Majefty's attorney general, for his opinion how to proceed in the most effectual and speedy manner, for recovering the money.

Proceedings and Observations.

(18) This receiver's eftates are agreed to be made over to trustees, to receive the rents and profits thereof in fatisfaction of the crown debt, or to fell the fame, if it fhould be found neceffary. It is to be obferved, that if these accounts were paffed, there would be a deduction of upwards of 6,00p 1. paid to the militia.

(19) Several fums of money have been paid on this receiver's accounts: a decree of the court of Chancery was obtained for the sale of his eftates, under which they have been actually fold; the money is ordered to be paid by the purchafer into the bank, with the privity of the accomptant general, and the crown is directed to be paid out of it.

(20) This receiver's eftate was extended, and the court of Exchequer has appointed a receiver, who paffes his accounts annually, and pays the balance into the Exchequer in diminution of this debt. It is to be obferved, that if these accounts were paffed, there would be a deduction of 8000l. paid to the militia.

(21) This receiver died infolvent; but his fureties have, fince his death, paid large fums of money, and, from the fufficiency of their property, we are confident the whole arrears will be paid by them. It is to be obferved, that if thefe accounts were paffed, there would be a deduction of 2,968 1. 1s. 6d. for militia payments, furveyors' falaries, poundage and other articles.
