LANCASHIRE.

Fy the register of the collegiate church of Anchester, it appears, that from January 1 › December 31, 1799, there were chriftened males 1390, females 1316. Buried, males 695, females 662, and married 1275 couples. Upwards of 70c lumps of butter, short of weight, were feized on a late market day at Manchester, and diftributed amongst the poor inhabitants.

The Liverpool library lately published propofals for erecting a new library and news 100m, at an expence of 3600-guineas; and in one week the fubfcription was full! No other town in the kingdom can produce a fimilar inftance of public spirit.

At Prefton, on Saturday the 7th of June, wheat and potatoes were fold, upon an avesage, of little more than half the prices of

the preceding market day. The crop is uncommonly great.

SHROPSHIRE.

Mr. Yates, the master and proprietor of a canal barge, at Coalbrook Dale, lately went all the way, which is upwards of four hundred miles, by water, from that navigation, to Hambro' Wharf, near London Bridge, in fourteen days. He touched at Worcester, Gloucester, and other towns, with part of his cargo. This is the first barge that ever made the entire paffage.
