did not like it

I was raised in a church, and do consider myself as a faith-filled person; however, have had issues with organized religion, the evil it sometimes brings to the world we live in, and bad people who do bad in the name of God. I picked up this book based on reading books that were rated among the top in the 21st century, and decided to keep a very open mind to the message the author wanted to send.
I did not rate this book based on my own beliefs, or that of the authors, as I feel most people have done. I rated it simply based on his ability to write a good book. I was literally bored to tears reading this book. His arguments were neither interesting, nor anything new. Yes, religion has caused wars, murder, and people to be condescending and close-minded to non-believers; yet, I found the author behaving the exact same way (in terms of the condescending tones). He also, in no way, disproved the existence of God. He simply stated many ways that organized religion and religious leaders/believers often act in a way contrary to their primary teachings: love, peace, and compassion. Again, nothing new or ground-breaking there.
I've had many conversations with everyday skeptics and out-right atheists that were far more intellectual than this book, and devoid of the name-calling and downright condescension. At the end of the day, I was simply hoping for the same or better from a published author and intellect on the topic than this.
