Volume 2 of 2. These sermons contain the substance of what Rev. Wesley had been preaching for between eight and nine years. During that time, he frequently spoke in public, on every subject in the ensuing collection: and he was not conscious that there is any one point of doctrine on which he was accustomed to speak in public, which is not here, incidentally, if not professedly, laid before every Christian reader. Every serious man who peruses these will therefore see in the clearest manner what these doctrines are, which Rev. Wesley embraced and taught, as the essentials of true religion.

John Wesley (1703-1791), and 18th-century Anglican clergyman and Christian theologian, was an early leader in the Methodist movement. Wesley's greatest theological achievement was his promotion of what he termed "Christian perfection," or holiness of heart and life.
